Oct 01-15, 2000
This period, unfortunately, was very
random. The lizards were fed every day, or every other
day, but the daily record keeping was not accomplished.
The general diet for this time period generally consisted
of amaranths, swiss chard, kohl rabi leaves and diced
chunks, diced ogden melon, diced juvenile acorn squash,
and any other tidbits I was able to find remaining in the
garden (like fallen apples at least once). With the hard
frosts, we eventually lost the amaranth leaves, but the
swiss chard and cabbage related plants were still
producing. As the frosts increased and leaf crops
declined, the lizards' diets switched to a greater
content of melon and squash and included more root crop
like red beets and carrots, and kohl rabi (though not a
root crop).
